Response to Interesting note... the U.S. and Soviet Union conducted virtually no business in those days.

The chicoms bank about $80 Billion annually on trade with us. The way I see it, they run the risk of losing some or all of that trade if they keep the plane.

Keeping the aircraft is tantamount to declaring themselves our Cold War foe. Personally, I hope they do keep it -- it's just about time to take them down a notch or two.
