Textbooks, Textbooks...

Response to god damn I am getting tired of this

Being a history major, I think I'm in a position where I can make a few observations. Tell me if you agree...
First, that these sound like high school texts anyway, which, in my humble opinion, are usually to be discredited. High school textbooks are usually poorly written, usually have a slant to them for the native country and against or at the expense of all others, and often conveniently twist historical fact into something that sounds good. Such textbooks are almost more of a reflection of the nation's social and political climate than publications of historical facts. Anyways, if these are in fact high school texts, they should get a life, and on short order; they should not be squabbling over high school texts to begin with, for the very reasons I have stated. Second, being involved in history as I am, I've learned many things - one of which is the fact that there are two sides - and sometimes more - to every story, and the truth is usually somewhere in the middle. Third, both politicians and journalists should leave all arguments historical to people whose business it is to study and decide such arguments, and who do so for the sake of history itself and not any self-serving interests such as the forwarding of political careers, crybabying, or catching a good by-line on a paper. Shit, I could go on for pages with this stuff. I'll spare you all, though - they say History is the Boring Science, after all...:)
